An occupational health nurse (OHN) will deliver health and safety programs and services to workers, worker populations and business units across the enterprise. Focus on the promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and injury, and protection from work-related and environmental hazards. Assist in safety projects, establishing collaborative and strong relationships with operational leaders and decision makers throughout the organization, practicing sound project management principles. The occupational health nurses’ responsibilities will include but not limited to case management, counseling and crisis intervention, health promotion and risk reduction, legal and regulatory compliance, and worker/workplace hazard detection. Occupational health nurses bring a combined knowledge of health expertise and business acumen to balance the requirement for a safe and healthful work environment with meeting the business needs of municipally owned company.
Registered Nurse License in Texas or a Compact State
Current CPR, AED, First Aid Certification
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
Strong planning and analytical skills; ability to assess complex situations and make decisions
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, and electronic mail
History of “on-time” delivery of projects
Demonstrated ability to forge strong relationships across levels and organizational lines of business
Ability to work in a variety of locations such as the field, construction centers, and office settings
Ability to make recommendations and formulate independent decisions
Practices nursing ethically, competently, and within the legal scope of practice, ensuring compliance with all requirements of local, state, and federal laws; obtains and maintains necessary licenses and certifications required to practice

Associates Degree in Nursing; plus, intermediate experience in the field
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. After hours work may be required.
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Job requires frequent walking and standing, including in and around operations environment.
