Compensation: $25/hour plus up to $500/month home office expense reimbursement

About the Position

We are hiring a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Design Fellow to join our social media team and help us to engage and grow our audience on a daily basis. The Graphic Design Fellow will be responsible for ideating and creating eye-catching and informative graphics to post on Instagram and other platforms on a daily basis. They will also help us manage our posting schedule on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook. They should be an experienced graphic designer, an excellent copywriter, and care deeply about reporting news that impacts working people through social media and video journalism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the social media team to create high-quality graphics to inform our audience, including in-depth explainer carousels as well as rapid response headlines;
• Assist with other aspects of social distribution, including scheduling content, drafting captions and optimizing posts for engagement and search;
• Identify important, interesting, or underreported news stories and facts, and use them to create compelling social media content;
• Track social media best practices and trends to enhance our visual presence and engage followers;
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet expected deadlines
• Maintain high standard of work in a nimble, fast paced environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign) and demonstrated experience in creating graphics for social media. 
• Proficiency in social media platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, with a strong understanding of current trends.
• Passion for, and substantial knowledge of, national politics and economic justice issues.
• An excellent writer, communicator, and researcher with an eagerness to educate and inform More Perfect Union’s audience.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a social media team.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of following directions and meeting tight deadlines.
• Available full-time hours and able to excel in a remote/work-from-home environment.
